If you have ever stared at an empty energy bar waiting for permission to keep playing, this page is for you. MergeCiv is a merge game with no energy meter and no merge timers. Here is what that means in practice, why it was built that way, and how it changes the way you play.
Most mobile merge games run on an energy system. Tapping a generator to produce new items spends a point of energy from a pool that refills slowly in real time. When the pool is empty you wait, watch an ad, or buy a refill, and the daily rhythm of the game is shaped around that pool. Timers often stack on top: chests that open after a wait, orders that expire, events that run for a weekend.
None of this is sinister. Energy is a pacing tool, and for many players it works well. But it means the game decides when you are allowed to play, and it turns "one more merge" into a purchase decision.
In MergeCiv a merge is exactly one thing: drag a tile onto another tile of the same type and the same tier, and the pair becomes a single tile one tier higher. The game checks the match and makes the new tile. It does not deduct a resource, tick down a counter, or start a cooldown. There is no merge budget anywhere in the game, so there is nothing to refill.
That is not because the game has no pacing. The pacing simply lives somewhere else:
Tiles do not produce on their own. A Wheat Field, Forest or Ore Deposit only pays when a settlement tile works it, and output scales with the tile's tier. Growing your economy means arranging Villagers, Houses, Villages and Castles so that more of the board is worked, and merging producers up so each worked cell pays more.
You start on a 3x3 grid. Clear Brush (30 Food) takes you to 4x4, Claim Wilderness to 5x5 and Claim Surrounding Land to 6x6. Space, not energy, is what you run out of, and a pair you are holding costs you a cell rather than a coin.
Once the grid is fully claimed you can unlock Resettlement, which trades your settlement for Culture and Gold and starts the run again with permanent legacy upgrades. Building the Mage Tower to level 10 opens Ascension, the deeper reset that brings Magic, Artifacts and the Citadel. A Research card later opens Conquest, a permanent war campaign fought beside the merge board.
The closest thing to a timer is the Scout, which delivers new tiles to the board. Hand-spawning a tile recharges in three seconds, and the Auto-Scout upgrade delivers one every ten seconds on its own. Neither stops you from merging anything already on the board, and both keep working while you think.
MergeCiv is free to play, and every feature can be reached through play. There is no energy to sell, so nothing you can buy unlocks a merge. What does exist:
If you never open the shop, the game is the same game.
