MergeCiv ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Analytics Data

• Analytics Identifier: A randomly generated, pseudonymous ID stored on your device to help us understand usage patterns. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
• Gameplay Events: Actions you take in the game (e.g., upgrades purchased, milestones reached) to help us improve game balance and features.
• App Version: The version of the App you are running.

Crash & Performance Data

• Error Reports: If the App encounters an error, we collect the error message and diagnostic information to fix bugs.
• Performance Metrics: Memory usage and other performance indicators to help us optimize the App.

Account Information

• Account Data: If you choose to link an account (Apple or Google), we collect the linked account identifier to enable cross-device cloud save.
• Cloud Save Data: Your game progress is automatically synced and stored on our servers to enable save recovery and cross-device play.

Purchase Information

• In-App Purchases: Transactions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive a purchase confirmation and receipt, but we do not receive or store your payment details.

Device Information

• Push Notification Token: If you enable push notifications, we receive a device token to send you notifications.
• Device Metadata: When your game syncs to the cloud, we collect basic device information (browser type, platform, screen dimensions, language, timezone) for debugging.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the App
• To understand how players interact with the game and improve balance
• To diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues
• To process in-app purchases and manage your account
• To send push notifications you have opted in to receive
• To display advertisements (see Advertising below)

Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics (GA4): Usage analytics. GA4 sets cookies (such as "_ga") to distinguish users and sessions. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: In-app purchase processing.
• Google AdMob: Optional rewarded advertisements in the iOS and Android apps.
• Google AdSense (H5 Games Ads): Optional rewarded advertisements on the web version.
• Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notifications.
• Supabase & Cloudflare: Cloud save storage and backend infrastructure.

Cookies & Local Storage

The website and App use cookies and similar technologies:

• Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics (GA4) sets cookies (such as "_ga") to distinguish users and sessions and measure how the game is used.
• Advertising Cookies: When advertisements are shown on the web version, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve, personalize, and measure ads. See the Advertising section below for details and opt-out options.
• Local Storage: Your game save and preferences (such as sound settings) are stored in your browser's local storage or on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you enable cloud save.

You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not prevent you from playing MergeCiv.

Advertising

The App displays optional rewarded advertisements powered by Google AdMob on iOS and Android, and by Google AdSense (H5 Games Ads) on the web version. These services may use device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID / IDFA on iOS), cookies, and in-app activity data to show you relevant ads. On iOS 14.5+, the App requests permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You can limit ad tracking at any time through your device's privacy settings.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. Account and cloud save data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed within 30 days. Local data on your device is retained until you uninstall the App.

Your Rights & Choices

• Push Notifications: Enable or disable in your device settings.
• Ad Tracking: Limit personalized advertising through your device's privacy settings, Google Ads Settings, or your browser's cookie controls.
• Account Deletion: See our Account Deletion page.
• Data Access: Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Cloud Save: Cloud save is optional. You can play entirely offline.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date above.
